Shane Henry (featuring Nathan Angelo) - Butterflies
I’ve spent a majority of my time co-writing songs over the past few years. There’s something exciting and special about sitting in a room* with another songwriter, trying to chisel away at a song until it is completed & hopefully beautiful, fun or inspiring in some way. It must have been how Michelangelo felt before he took a stab** at that unbalanced and imperfect rock that later became the statue of David. Am I saying that I feel as accomplished and prolific as the great Michelangel? Absolutely, not! But there is beauty in the struggle and in the art of waiting for the right lyric or the melody that makes even us songwriters a bit giddy.
Time surely tells which songs will see the light of day & which ones were good for practicing the craft.*** This song has a vibe & simplicity to it that I strive to find in a song. It might be my favorite jam that I was a part of writing in 2011.
Well, thanks for listening to me ramble. Here’s to many more songs!

**Pun intended.
***Songwriting friends- Don’t be afraid to write a bad song. It’s gonna happen. Finish it and move along. Sometimes you just need to get the bad ones out of your system.
